A Thousand Splendid Suns

Off day from SOT today. And I took leave on monday (post marathon), so this week feels really relaxed.

Should be catching up on bible reading, or writing sermons, but I am so hooked reading ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini (also author of ‘The Kite Runner’) I bought the novel last week with my BIRTHDAY vouchers (mph vouchers given to me last october!) Half way through the book now and I am loving it.

Wanted to buy the book since it was published 2 years back but never had the chance. Even after getting the vouchers, I was always too busy to go get a novel to read during semester. (taking three lit modules usually means TRYING to read three books every 2 weeks during semester time)

Yesterday, I was walking over to bugis when I passed by Bras Basah – the second hand bookstore was surprisingly still open. Couldn’t resist it – went in and bought a novel for SGD $1!! ‘Blackberry Wine’ by Joanne Harris (author of Chocolat) But I shall resist reading it. haha.

The best part is that I still have ANOTHER set of unspent borders vouchers to spend on (also bday gift!) hehe.

I love leisure reading (: so thanks to K. Luon and Lou’s connect group for the vouchers although I only use them after so long! I always appreciate bookstore vouchers (as much as vouchers for clothing!)

One day, when I have my own home, I will build a shelf that covers an entire wall and fill them all up with my books. And I shall tell my kids stories – not just children’s stories but tell them stories out of all the literature classics. Just dreaming up some pretty thoughts!
